Biography

Marlieke Burghouts is from the Netherlands and holds a Bachelor in Dance from the Higher School of the Arts Amsterdam, Theaterschool and a M.A. in Choreography from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, UK. She is a Trinity Laban Bursary Award recipient.

 

Directly after graduating with M.A. Choreography with Merit she developed her new work “Jealous of the Birds” at Dansateliers as part of “One Night’s Dance”.

Her latest work Hired Hands is made possible with the support of the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts.

She recently curated and produced two full evenings of performance, dance and fine arts in RADION Amsterdam titled Reverb Residue

 

Throughout the last years she has performed with several companies in NYC and received excellent dance training at Dance New Amsterdam, Steps on Broadway and Peridance in New York City. In New NYC she has had the chance to show her choreographic work at several venues such as; City Center studio's, the Theater at Dance New Amsterdam, Bridge for Dance studio's, Steps on Broadway, movement research, John Ryan/White wave theatre, Triskelion Aldous Theatre. At Center for Performance Research (CPR) she produced and showed her first evening length performance.
 

Marlieke is an experienced dance teacher for both professional and non-professional dancers. Her main specialisations are modern/contemporary and improvisation. She has had the chance to teach, among other schools at K’dans studio in Beweging Den Haag, Circle Rotterdam and Hudson Valley Conservatoire Walden New York, Jeugdtheaterschool Hofplein Rotterdam and Centrum voor de Kunsten de VAK, Delft. 

Marlieke is a certified Simonson Technique Teacher.
